We selected for you the best places to visit in Champagne, from the biggest houses, to a boutique winery, so you can enjoy all day long. Your English-speaking guide will drive you through the beautiful vineyards, and give you plenty of anecdotes about the secrets of Champagne, a place where the uniqueness of the soils combines with the climate and the expertise of the winemakers to produce the famous drink, symbol of celebration and elegance for centuries across the world.
We will pick you up at your hotel or apartment in the morning, and offer you delicious and buttery freshly baked croissants, while driving to Champagne (about 1h30).
As soon as you arrive in the vineyards, you will be struck by the beauty of the landscape as you are given precious information about the history of the region, its most important characters and the process of Champagne production.
Your day will start in style, with a guided tour through the maze of cellars of one of the world’s biggest bubble producers, like Champagne Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery… Learn about their unique history and production, tasting their flagship cuvee with the house sommelier.
Following a short drive, discover the village of Hautvillers and its abbey, where Dom Pérignon used to work as a cellar master over 300 years ago and made Champagne. Learn more about this legendary character and about his influence on the style and reputation of the drink.
Stop by the wonderful vineyard of Champagne and enjoy a Masterclass conducted by your wine expert guide. Through this very unique experience and the tasting of a special cuvee, you will learn all the secrets of this famous bubbly drink.
For lunch, settle at the table of a family-run intimate winery, where you will enjoy a delicious Gourmet French lunch, paired with 3 different Champagnes from the house, as well as a local wine specialty, the “Ratafia Champenois!”
The last stop will be at a cooperative winery where you will see all the tools used to produce Champagne… By the end of the day, you are guaranteed to be a bubbles expert! Of course, you will taste several Champagnes there.
After all these discoveries and emotions, your guide will bring you back to Paris and drop you in a central Paris, at around 6PM
One of the best day trips I have ever been on! Julia was such a great tour guide and so knowledgeable about the Champagne region and each of the vineyards we visited. The size of the small group was great and we were all friendly with each other by the end of the day. I highly recommend doing this experience if you’re looking to get out of Paris for the day and do something different. We visited Moet & Chandon first and then two smaller vineyards in the afternoon, and each visit was unforgettable!
First of all, the tour visited a large producer (Moët) known as a ‘negotiant’ as they buy in most of their grapes from producers. Moët have very plush premises in Epernay and the tour was well-polished, finishing off with a sample of Moët Imperiale. The next stop was at a small producer and champagne maker, Julien Chopin. The sampling was far more generous with 3 Champagnes and a dessert wine. They served lunch too, which was plentiful and tasty. This was our favourite stop and the Champagne was very nice. Finally we went to a cooperative whose name escapes me. They have an emphasis of using Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunière grapes. We had 3 samples here, though a bit smaller in size than in the other two producers. Throughout the trip we were given lots of information about the Champagne making process, it was fascinating. The driver and guide for the day was Julia and she was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable, had a pleasant personality and spoke excellent English too.
The day trip to the champagne region was a highlight of our trip to France. My favorite experience by far. Magda picked us up at our hotel and we received a mini tour of Paris while picking up the rest of our small group. We’re loved visiting the small wineries, the lunch at Penet-Charondonnet and sampling the 8 distinctly different champagnes during the trip. We now have a new favorite to enjoy.
Thanks Magda for a wonderful time.
Worth the day investment especially if you drink Champagne. Simone was fantastic!
Clem , our tour guide was fantastic, friendly & knowledgable.
The tour was very good. Covered both a huge champagne maker ie Moet & Chardon as well as two other small boutique big quality ones!
Fantastic selection of choice champagnes to taste & a great cozy lunch! Highly Recommend!
