    Description day 1 - What's on in Champagne?

    Join us for this exceptional small group tour from Paris to the Champagne region, home of the world’s most celebrated sparkling wine! We’ve selected for you the best places to visit in Champagne, from the biggest house to a boutique winery, so you can enjoy yourself all day long. Your English-speaking guide will drive you through the beautiful vineyards and give you plenty of anecdotes about the secrets of Champagne, a place where the uniqueness of the soils combines with the climate and the expertise of the winemakers to produce the famous drink, symbol of celebration and elegance for centuries across the world.

    Morning – Champagne the glamourous

    We will pick you up at your hotel or apartment in the morning and offer you delicious and buttery freshly baked croissants while driving to Champagne (around 1h30).
    As soon as you arrive in the vineyards, you will be struck by the beauty of the landscape as you are given precious information about the history of the region, its most important characters and the process of Champagne production.

    Your day will start in style, with a guided tour through the maze of cellars of one of the world’s biggest bubbles producers, like Champagne Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery… Learn about their unique history and the production tasting their flagship cuvee with the house sommelier.
    After the visit, enjoy a walk on the « Avenue de Champagne » in Epernay, a mythical street hosting only Champagne houses with totally different styles of architectures.

    Following a short drive, depending on our schedule, discover the village of Hautvillers and its abbey, where Dom Pérignon used to work as a cellar master over 300 years ago and make Champagne. Learn more about this legendary character and about his influence on the style and reputation of the drink.

    Lunch – Local food & Champagne!

    For lunch, settle at the table of a family-run intimate winery where you will enjoy a delicious 3 course meal of regional food, paired with different Champagnes from the house, as well as a local wine specialty, the Ratafia Champenois!

    Afternoon – Become a bubbles expert

    Your guide will take you to his favorite spot to enjoy a magnificent view over the vineyard, take postcard worthy pictures, and have an introduction to vine growing ! Learn about all the specificities of the terroir in Champagne, and what is currently being done in the vines…

    The last stop will be at a boutique winery where you will see all the tools used to produce Champagne… By the end of the day you are guaranteed to be a bubbles expert ! Of course, you will taste several Champagne there.

    After all these discoveries and emotions, your guide will drive you back to Paris and drop you in a central location in the late afternoon.

    Description - Across the Loire Valley

    How about spending an entire day in the Loire Valley visiting one of France’s most famous castles, part of the Unesco world heritage, and learning all about the delicious wines of the region?
    This all-inclusive tour will make you fall in love with the beauty of the Loire Valley, the remarkable architecture of its castles from the Renaissance and the diversity of its wines.

    Morning – Life in a castle

    Your guide will pick you up at your hotel early in the morning and drive you the south of Paris (approx. 2h) towards the Loire Valley while you enjoy delicious freshly baked croissants. As you get nearer to the Chambord castle, your guide will give you plenty of information about the history of the region.
    Start the day with an audio guided tour of the castle which will divulge all the secrets behind this monumental building constructed 500 years ago by the king Francis 1st of France…

    Your guide will then drive you along the river, where you will be able to catch a glimpse on other beautiful châteaux such as the castle of Amboise (Leonardo da Vinci’s last home) and the castle of Blois.

    Lunch – Share a meal with the winemaker

    For lunch, the owner of a boutique winery will welcome you to his table to enjoy delightful local food paired with its wines. He will be happy to show you his cellars and vines!

    Afternoon – Discover the dizzying array of wines of the Loire valley


    After lunch, discover beautiful views of the colorful landscapes of Vouvray and Montlouis-sur-Loire. If the weather permits it, your wine expert guide will stop in the vineyards of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc grapes to give you a vine growing introduction! You will then visit among the most emblematic producers of the region. You will discover for instance the troglodyte caves of one producer, where they age their precious bottles. You will then get to taste their whole range of wines: sparkling white wines, dry and sweet white wines, red and rosé wines.

    You’ll be dropped off in central Paris (Hôtel de Ville) in the early evening.

    Tips before departure

    • Wine cellars are usually quite cold and damp (45 °F / 10 °C): do not forget to bring warm clothes with you.
    • Most of the visits include a lot of stairs and no elevator to access the underground galleries.
    • Please note that the schedule, place for lunch and the wineries visited are subject to minor changes depending on the season and on supplier availability.
    • Order of the tours is subject to change & are not necessarily consecutive
    • Please advise any specific dietary requirements at the time of the booking
    • There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers to meet requirements. Wine Passport reserves the right to cancel any tour where the minimum number is not reached (3 ppl). In the event of this occurring, you will be offered an alternative or full refund.
    • From March 2024 there will be road blocked in Paris for the Olympic games, we'll do our best to ensure pick-up at your hotel. Though, it won't be guaranteed.
